Questions

What people ask us before they hire a lawyer

If yours isn't here, call. Asking costs nothing.

How much does it cost to hire you?

Nothing up front. We're paid a percentage of what we recover, agreed in writing before you sign. If we recover nothing, you owe us no fee. Case costs, such as filing fees, records and experts, are separate, and the agreement says who pays them if the case is lost.

How long do I have to bring a claim?

Every state sets its own deadline, and claims against a city, county or state agency often need written notice much sooner. Call us soon and we'll tell you the dates that apply to you.

Do I need a lawyer if the insurer is already offering to pay?

Not always. If the injury is minor and the offer covers your bills, you may not. We'll tell you honestly at the first meeting, and it's free.

What will I have to do?

Get the treatment you need, keep your appointments, and keep us posted. We'll ask you for some records and signatures along the way.

Will my case go to trial?

Most cases settle. We prepare each one as if it might not, because insurers pay more fairly when they know a case is ready for court.

How long will it take?

Usually several months to a couple of years. It depends mostly on how long your treatment takes and whether the insurer is willing to be reasonable.

Can you meet me somewhere other than your office?

Yes. We meet clients at home, in the hospital and in rehab, in Santa Fe and in the towns around it.

What if I was partly at fault?

That often reduces what you can recover but doesn't always end the claim. We'll explain how it applies to your case.

Still wondering if you have a case?

Tell us what happened. We'll tell you plainly.
